Windhager HMX installed in Usk by Steve Burchell Director of Thorteck Ltd. Thorteck Ltd have just completed an installation of a Windhager HMX log boiler linked to the clients existing oil boiler. The system gives automatic change over from the log boiler to the oil boiler when the fuel is fully consumed in the log boiler and hasn’t been reloaded so there is no interruption in giving heat when there is a demand. Under normal use the oil boiler is redundant in operation and will only operate as a back up heating source. This gives the customer the flexibility of being able to go away in winter time and still have full frost protection on the property from the oil boiler.
‘The log boiler is the most suitable choice for the household user, especially for those who have access to their own supply of wood. Log boilers are usually installed in conjunction with a hot water tank (accumulator) which acts as a thermal store. The boiler is thus able to burn its charge of logs at a constant rate over a relatively short period, whilst heating is available on demand throughout the day.’
