Domestic RHI – Biomass
The Government (BEIS – Business Energy & Industry Strategy) have announced their proposals for a reformed and refocused RHI scheme
Good news for biomass heating
As of spring 2017 the domestic RHI tariff will increase from 4.21p/kWh to 6.44p/kWh.
Any installation registered between 14th December 2016 and the implementation of the new tariff in spring 2017 will automatically have their tariff uplifted to the increased tariff level of 6.44p/kWh when the new scheme comes into force.
When the new tariff is introduced in spring 2017 there will be a demand cap of 25,000kWh.
The WINdow of opportunity - any property with an EPC of greater than 25,000kWh installed between 14th December 2016 and the implementation of the scheme in spring 2017 will receive the new tariff of 6.44p/kWh for the full deemed EPC kWh without any demand cap being applied.
Projects and installations with an EPC of greater than 25,000kWh should be encouraged to mobilise immediately whilst this WINdow of opportunity is open.
